I'm very sport orientated and hence have been plagued with injuries particularly back pain. I have seen numerous sports physios over the years and can honestly say have never been so impressed by the results as to now I've found Angela
Burnikell. A true professional who goes way beyond expectations..she really does care and it shows.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend her she's amazing...

Ang really listens to you throughout the session and adapts the treatment plan to your body's responses. I recently had treatment for migraines and it has been fantastic to wake up the last 2 mornings headache free; my husband is really impressed!

I went to see Angela after asking a friend whether they knew of anyone that may be able to help me with extremely tight hamstrings. Although I am religious about stretching after running I found I would go through phases where my legs felt like lead and it really affected my performance when out and about. I specifically wanted to get it sorted before a 10K I had coming up. After my initial consulation and checks, Angela established that it was not my hamstrings that were the issue but my quads which was causing the discomfort in the back of my legs and buttocks. After the first session, within a couple of days I felt like I had much lighter muscles in my legs and after a further session before my race I really did feel like I had been given new legs. I ended up doing a personal best in the 10K!
I would have a massage at least once a month as they really do make my legs feel better - oh and its a nice treat too! Amy Speed, Police Officer

I have played football and weight trained for a number of years, and have had various injuries and aches and pains that I have utilised sports masseurs to treat. Their knowledge and ability to treat the injury has varied greatly and some I would not recommend.
Recently at a ripe old age of 38 I took part in a charity boxing match, I embarked on a rigourous training regime and injured myself about three weeks prior to the event, I was team captain and organiser, with over a 1000 tickets sold and £10,000 pledged in donations, hence the panic set in.
I went to see Angela Burnikell and was quickly impressed with her initial assessment of my injury and posture. She identified what was wrong and how to alleviate the pain short term (enough for the charity event) but more importantly a long term treatment plan to try and eradicate my poor posture. In all the years I have used sports treatments she is the first to highlight the exact cause of my pain and explain it in terminology I could relate to. I managed to take part in the match pain free and won my bout , which I wouldn't have been able to do without the treatment I received.
I highly recommend her services and continue to pass to friends and sporting team mates.

I made an appointment to see Angela after multiple recommendations from Sotonia cycling club members. Recently I developed a very aggressive injury in the upper left thigh which was causing me excessive pain and discomfort to the point that I couldn't walk without a noticeable limp.
Normally when you go to the doctors you get told that your doing too much and you shouldn't run because its bad for you which gets a bit tiring. Angela on the other hand, being a keen triathlete appreciates that its not that easy to just stop running and cycling when its an integral part of your life and rather than preach she started by offering alternatives that might help resolve the injury and provide a better physical platform to work on to avoid further injury.
In the opening session Angela was very precise in looking at my flexibility and muscle state as I was injured. She listened very carefully to my current sports rosta and made sure that she had observed the mechanics of my movement before we even started on the massage.
I've been very impressed with Angela's pragmatic approach, she's not afraid to ask me questions and confirm that I can feel a difference in a certain area after she has been working on. I'm not saying there weren't moments of discomfort during the first session but the result has been a fast reduction in my area of pain which says to me that the massage is working.
My only regret is that i didn't look into this months ago and would possibly have avoided this serious injury.

I have used Angela several times and have to say she is very knowlegeable about the workings of the muscles and the general workings of the body, she picks up on any tensions and tenderness. I use her to try to keep my muscles working well rather than helping me with any problems, although that will i am sure be required at some point in time. I do feel a benefit after having a sports massage on my leg muscles, it does make my legs feel looser and more responsive after a session.

Going to someone’s house for a massage is a little daunting, especially if you do not know the person and have never had one before. However, as soon as I rang the doorbell Angela made me feel very welcome and relaxed. I have very tight hamstrings and have done for years and after my wife saw Angela in October 2011, she recommended that I see her. I have kick started my level of activity after joining a gym and doing 3 / 4 exercises classes a week, however because of my tight hamstrings I was very restricted which lead to discomfort. Angela went through my reasons for being there, my activity / sport history as well as whether I have or have had any injuries. She asked what I would like to achieve and what my short and long term goals were, this certainly made me think and allowed me to develop a plan in my head as to what I would like to achieve. Angela made notes on my answers as the discussion went on, which was good as I felt confident that she could refer to those notes the next time and remember me and my issue instead of having to explain and go through the initial process all over again.
When the massage began Angela explained everything that she was doing and why she was doing it. She informed me when she was going to put heavy pressure on a specific area and pre-warned me that it may be quite tender. She regularly asked me during the massage what level the discomfort was and she explained that though she needs to apply pressure, she did not want to cause me any unbearable pain. The massage was very hard with the deep tissue being manipulated to help loosen my hamstrings. The massage was a little uncomfortable at times but not really painful. However it was more of a pleasurable discomfort as I could feel that every time Angela was applying deep pressure it was helping me and working towards solving the issue. At the end of the massage I could already start to feel my hamstrings loosen as Angela put me in to positions which I could never have achieved beforehand.
Angela gave me some stretching and breathing exercises for me to do at home which would continue to help loosen and stretch the hamstrings. I certainly feel that over time a combination of massages with Angela, these exercises and continued gym work will help cure my problematic hamstrings and remove the restrictions that I currently face when doing exercise classes. I would certainly recommend Angela to anyone I know who needed advice and a massage as her welcoming, relaxing and professional nature certainly provided me with confidence that I was in the right hands!
